SCADA Zagreb Sewerage System

Based on the size and complexity of Zagreb sewerage system there is a need for systematic data collection and management. The system for collecting and processing data - SCADA (System Control and Data Acquisition) allows flow monitoring in the sewerage system, rainfall and flow measurements at several locations in the catchment and in the sewerage system. SCADA is the key element of the supervisory control system which enables monitoring and control of wastewater flow within the network and towards WWTP, and detection of possible problems on multiple locations within the system including pumping stations, distribution structures and storm overflows.

Through SCADA Zagreb Sewerage System Preliminary Design with the help of hydraulic model, strategic locations have been determined for placing remote stations which are generally divided into monitoring, controlling and combined control stations. Through remote stations locations in critical points in the sewerage system, pumping stations, storm overflows, ombrographs and limnigraphs, the remote monitoring allows a detailed insight into functioning of the sewerage system, which creates series of benefits and preconditions for the further development of intelligent control. These are, as follows: data collection on the process of precipitation forming in catchment and runoff in combined system pipes, implementation of management procedures in real time in order to reduce frequency and volume of overflows, managing sewerage system subject to frequent sediments as a result of low velocities, detection of infiltration into the sewerage system, planning inflow strategies at WWTP, monitoring effectiveness of corrective measures on the sewerage system, monitoring and storage of flow data in the sewerage system combined with hydraulic models and GIS for calibration and verification of models, identification of areas with unused retention system capability, rationalization of work and sewerage network maintenance...

SCADA Zagreb Sewerage System Preliminary Design anticipates location of 61 remote stations in the first phase of the project and 170 remote stations in the second phase of the project realization. With the remote stations, the project describes the method to transfer data from the supervisory control center equipped with special PC configurations prepared for the acquisition, processing and storage of data collected from the remote stations.
The estimated value of execution of SCADA Zagreb Sewage System first phase is app. 1.800.000,00 EUR.
